The yacht's income is determined by its berthing capacity, age, design and the owner's usage. We do not restrict usage of your yacht, as some companies do, but this will affect your return. For example, if you choose to sail her personally over periods like bank holidays and sailing regattas within the Solent, then the charter return will be less. We try to set a real target that is achievable so you can look at the figures based on worse case scenarios. On the whole, most yachts well exceed the target of income that we suggest.

How is the target achieved? Firstly, we need to decide the cost of the yacht for a standard weekend rate; this again is driven by the amount the charter client is prepared to pay as an individual to go sailing for the weekend. Some typical examples are shown below:

30 / 32ft       6 berth
£650
35ft   8 berth
£815
37 / 38ft   8 / 9 berth
£895
40ft   9 berth
£950
43 / 44 ft   10 berth
£1200

Once we have this figure we can call this one unit of charter. A Monday to Friday also equates to one unit of charter. This is because mid week charters are harder to come by as it is not always possible for most people to gain a Monday to Friday away from work. A full week would then add up to 2 units of charter.

In a period of a year this would give a potential of 104 units of charter if the yacht were to be out every single day, given the nature of the UK weather this would be unlikely! Based on experience we feel as though it would be fair to achieve 22 units of charter per a year. So for example the income expected on a 37-foot yacht would be the cost of a unit £895 x the target 22 - giving an expected income on the yacht of £19690. This can be applied in most cases, for certain yachts we can guarantee a sum of income from the yacht. There are very few companies that offer this, so please contact us for further details.
