Maxi 1050 "Magewind of Roke"

Brand new in 2003, Magewind is a serious performance yacht, built in Sweden
to an extraordinary level of craftsmanship and quality. Since its introduction
at the 2002 London Boat Show, the Maxi 1050 has received tremendous reviews, and
has proved its speed on the race circuit, taking 1st Overall in the IRC class
at Cowes Week. With her teak lined cabin, sleek lines and safe, balanced handling,
Magewind is ideal for the more experienced sailor looking for fast, comfortable
passage-making, or for the family or smaller corporate group seeking a taste of
real luxury yachting.

Under sail
Magewind has a powerful, double swept spreader rig with a fully battened main
and an easily handled, furling headsail. Her fine bow entry and long waterline
give an amazingly smooth ride and significantly better performance to windward
than most boats her size. A deep fin keel, set well back, and high ballast ratio
make her unusually stiff and well balanced. For even better performance off the
wind, a gennaker is available for experienced crews.
Under power
 She
handles easily under power, responding quickly to the helm both ahead and astern.
Her 3-cylinder engine is smooth, quiet and gives her good drive, even in choppy
conditions.
On deck
The Maxi 1050 has a unique cockpit design, giving the helmsman safe and comfortable
seating positions to either side of the large wheel, with excellent visibility
forward. The deep, well-sheltered cockpit is ideal for a family or for passage
making, and has a large table for use in port. All control lines are led aft,
including the single-line reefing system. Wide side decks and a clear foredeck
make moving around and sail handling safe and easy.
 Below
Deck
The evident craftsmanship and thoughtful layout of the interior give a real sense
of space and luxury. The spacious galley, with two large sinks and generous fridge
and cooker, is equipped for gourmet cooking, and with hot water and 5-point central
heating, there is no excuse for not eating on board in the evening! Magewind has
seven full-size berths in two large cabins and the saloon and plenty of room for
8 for day sailing. There is a shower in the heads, and a heated wet-locker to
ensure oilskins are warm and dry to put back on.
Equipment
In addition to full instrumentation and safety equipment for category 2 DoT coding,
Magewind has a superb colour chart plotter and radar system with repeater at the
wheel, for the helmsman. She also has the sophisticated ST6000+ autopilot, giving
smooth, stable steering even in difficult conditions. Her owners have provided
a comprehensive and carefully selected inventory, to match the luxurious character
of this thoroughbred yacht, including an Alpine CD stereo system, pillows, tea
towels and (dinghy outboard at extra cost). For more information on this yacht
