Andark and Yachting
Andark Diving, established
in 1974, and Personally Tailored Yacht Charters have combined to produce unbeatable
events, which offer value for money. By combining both of these fantastic sports,
we are able to offer an action packed, fun, multi activity weekend.
Multi Activity Weekend
Friday evening (or mid week)
Arrive at the yacht - a choice of the Jeanneau 40 or the Jeanneau 43 Deck Saloon.
Meet your skipper for a safety briefing and more details of the weekend events
ahead. Then enjoy a drink in the cockpit before going ashore to one of the many
bars and restaurants around Gosport or Gun Wharf Quays in Portsmouth. Saturday
morning, slip the berth and head into The Solent where your experienced skipper
will allow you to steer the yacht and trim the sails. Your destination will be
either Cowes on the Isle of Wight, or the famous River Hamble for lunch at one
of the riverside pubs. After lunch we head up the River Hamble to Swanwick for
the evening. There we cross to Andark Diving and their purpose built diving pool.
Saturday Evening
Mayday, Mayday, Mayday, Brace, Brace, Brace
The scenario - you are a search and rescue (SAR) team going out to rescue a stricken
yacht on fire in the middle of the English Channel. Your SAR helicopter is in
bad weather and has a complete engine failure - the only option is to ditch into
the sea. Experience helicopter escape drills in the total safety of the Andark
dive pool with safety divers and the same equipment that is used to train professionals
ranging from oilrig workers to SAR teams looking after the welfare of leisure
sailors. The session runs from 1700 to 2000. After your safety briefing there
are plenty of opportunities to experience this in the controlled, safe environment
of a heated pool. After that, it's a short walk to a great pub for dinner and
a couple of pints or a bottle of wine.
Sunday Morning
Dive, Dive, Dive
 What
better way to start than back at Andark to try the diving equipment in the deep
pool. After a safety brief and demonstration of all the equipment, it is time
to don the kit yourself and give it a try. This lasts for about two hours. Then
it is back to the yacht for a leisurely cruise back to Portsmouth Harbour.
 The
event on the Jeanneau 40 is at a cost of £1495, which equates to £186 per person
with a crew of 8 on the yacht.
The same event on the Jeanneau 43 Deck Saloon is at a cost of £1650, which
equates to £183 per person with a crew of 9.
This event can take place on any of our fleet. For bare boat charter, please
enquire. Multi Activity weekends on our RIBs with accommodation supplied can also
be arranged.
Other events, which can be run with multi activity weekends, include a sea
survival course. This is very relevant to being on the yacht and gives an awareness
of the dangers the sea can confront us with. It arms us with the knowledge of
how to prevent hypothermia and what to do in the case of being in a live raft
at sea. Then it's into the pool to learn how to turn an upside down life raft
the correct way up. And what to do when we get inside. This is an RYA qualification
with a certificate.
Courses of this nature give you the knowledge to survive at sea in a potentially
disastrous situation. For example, a sinking yacht, cruise ship or ferry. It is
immense fun and great for character building. For more details click on PT School
of Yachting or please do not hesitate to contact us by email or telephone.
